Here Are the Simple Chicken Biryani Recipe Ingredients

Marinade Chicken

· 750g chicken

· 2 tbsp garam masala

· 1 tbsp Kashmiri chili powder

· 2 tbsp salt

· 1 tbsp cumin

· 1/8 tbsp turmeric powder

· 2 tbsp minced ginger

· 6 tbsp minced garlic

· 2/3 cup (150 ml) cup Greek yogurt

· 5 tomatoes (diced)

· 6 green cardamon pods

Rice Ingredients

· 4 cups Uncooked basmati rice

· 1/4 cinnamon stick

· 2 stars anise

· 10 cloves

· 1/2 cardamom pods

· 5 dried bay leaves

· 2 tbsp salt

Saffron Water

· 1 tsp saffron threads

· 2 tbsp warm water

Crispy Onions

· 2 medium onions (yellow, brown)

· 1 cup (250 ml) oil for fry Onion


· 1 cup coriander/cilantro, chopped

· 1/4 cup (60g) ghee


· Crispy onions (above)

· Chopped coriander/cilantro

· Yoghurt

Preparing the Chicken for Biryani

1. Add the chicken to a large bowl and then add all the ingredients that are mentioned above. Mix everything well and marinate the chicken. Now cover and set this aside for 2 hours. You can also rest it in the fridge for a full day. This step makes chicken soft and juicy.

2. Heat Ghee in a heavy bottom pot. Make sure you use a large pot for this. Add sliced onions on medium heat and fry them, stirring often, until light brown. This is the best color of the onions.

3. Add the marinated chicken and stir fry for 6 to 10 minutes until the color of the chicken changes entirely and the moisture from the yogurt dries out. You see little oil separating on the sides of the pot.

4. Now add tomato mix well and cover the pot. Cook 10-15 minutes on medium flame until water dries and oil separates. This step is crucial.

Preparing the Rice for Biryani

1. Wash rice and soak it in fresh water for 30 minutes or as the pack suggests. This is very important as it allows the rice to expand at its best and reduces the cooking time of rice with even cooking.

2. Now Boil the water for the rice and add all the ingredients mentioned above for the rice. The water must have a soupy salt level. When the water color changes as the spices release flavors in the water, Now add soaked rice.

3. Cook until 70% is cooked. Stay around the rice while boiling and check frequently. You can test rice grain by pressing between the fingers and the thumb. The rice should be firm and cooked, not at all mushy. Now, transfer the boiling rice to a colander to drain hot water. Put a little oil on rice so rice grains are well separated from each other. Set aside.

For Layering Biryani

1. We are getting to our favorite part. Layer the curry with the rice in a pot in one-on-one layers. Sprinkle the food color, fried onions, and chopped mint leaves on top of the last layer.

2. Close the lid tightly, making sure no steam passes out of the pot, and cook on low heat until the rice is done. Now your Biryani is ready to serve.
