Ingredients Of Chowmein Recipe

  • 200g dried egg noodles
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • 1 bell pepper (any colour), thinly sliced
  • 100g mushrooms, sliced
  • 100g beansprouts
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Spring onions, sliced (for garnish)


  • Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until they’re al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and sliced onion, and stir-fry for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add julienned carrot, sliced bell pepper, and sliced mushrooms to the pan. Stir-fry for another 3-4 minutes until the vegetables are tender but slightly crisp.
  • Add the cooked egg noodles and beansprouts to the pan. Stir well to combine with the vegetables.
  • Mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl. Pour the sauce over the noodles and vegetables in the pan. Toss everything together until evenly coated in the sauce.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, if needed.
  • Stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated and well combined.
  • Once ready, transfer the chow mein to serving plates and garnish with sliced spring onions.
  • Serve hot, and enjoy your delicious homemade chow mein!
